Dear elected officials,
Hi my name is Paula Coleman and I live in Boise, ID. I recently sent a letter to Mike Crapo, but figured I'd let my voice be heard by many more. I am frustrated with the lack of support for people like me who are trying to better their life, are genuinely good people, and who just want a fair chance at life. I have raised my son on my own for the last ten years. It has been difficult and I need help financially and some reassurance we're safe. Luckily my son is happy and healthy, but my health is slipping away because I'm financially and mentally drained almost. I have made bad choices in my past, but am proud to say I have over a year of sobriety from that evil chemical alcohol, and I have a good program. I am very proud of myself and feel I've learned valuable lessons, I won't make the same mistakes again and I'm going to Heaven. I just want my voice to be heard because my family deserves to feel safe and happy here in Idaho. I have been raped numerous times, I suffer from PTSD and panic disorder with agoraphobia, so you can imagine the fear and flashbacks I endure on a daily basis. I have also contacted disability, obtained legal council, and even went a domestic violence shelter, but I just get told to go home and lock my door, or that I'm crazy and need meds, or that I'm making stories up, (by certain individuals). I am not a liar and I demand respect and sensitivity. Do you know what it's like to fear your life everyday and constantly isolate yourself because you feel like no one cares? Well I do, and I have decided to let my voice be heard. I believe in God, am a member of a Christian church, involved in Celebrate Recovery, I attend self help groups, and I would like to be treated like a decent human being. I believe there has to be someone who cares or who will listed before it's too late. Either way, I just want to feel safe here in Idaho or I'm moving very soon. Maybe the president will listen to my story and be willing to offer his advice? Please let me know if there is any organizations willing to help keep my son and I safe, or if you even care. I love Idaho's beauty and would like to live here, but it's not worth my life.
Thank you and Happy New Year!
Paula Coleman
